This Christmas double your donation to PET!

27 Nov 2016

“As a great grandmother I was nervous about applying, but being able to do this course means that I'm not past it yet. PET has given me a new chance in life!” – Clare, 65

Prisoners’ Education Trust believes everybody in prison can benefit from education, regardless of their background, sentence or age. But older prisoners often tell us they feel their education and employment potential is dismissed, as they struggle to access opportunities that could help them make meaningful changes to their lives. Education not only provides skills, but builds self-esteem, improves wellbeing and ultimately helps people to desist from crime. At a time when older people make up a higher proportion of the prison population than ever, we can’t afford to put an age limit on second chances.

Tony, 65

This year, PET is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge to meet the growing demand for distance learning from older prisoners. We aim to support an additional 200 prisoners over the age of 50 in the next 12 months. The Big Give Christmas Challenge gives supporters a chance see their donation doubled. PET has up to £10,000 available to match, thanks to a small number of individual pledgers and the Postcode Support Trust. Without your donations this matched funding will be lost.

To match your donation, donate online at here between midday on Tuesday 29th November and midday on Friday 2nd December. We will only be able to double donations while our match funds last, so please make sure you donate as soon after midday on Tuesday 29th November as possible.

For more information on how to donate during the Challenge, please click here or contact Cassie at cassie@prisonerseducation.org.uk

Thank you for making a difference at this special time of year.
