Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

At PET, we are starting to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can help us to work more efficiently, unlock new ways of working and free up staff time.

But AI is a new and fast-changing technology and we’re cautious in our approach. We want to be sure that we’re using it appropriately and in line with our values.

AI can help our team with tasks like creating first drafts of documents or courses or coming up with ideas, but anything created using AI is checked by a person before it’s used.

We don’t use AI to make decisions about people, like recruitment decisions or decisions about who can access a PET course, and we don’t use AI to communicate with people in prison or with prison staff. No personal data is entered into generative AI tools.

As our use of AI develops, we’ll be open about how we use AI and we’ll keep reviewing it to make sure it works well and that we’re aware of any risks with its use.

If you have any questions about PET’s use of AI, please do not hesitate to contact our Chief Executive by email.
