Your support can help us meet the rise in demand to ensure that everyone in prison has an opportunity to learn.
Plus, to double the impact, your donations will be matched up to £10,000, thanks to a generous trust.
Prisons are overcrowded, understaffed and underfunded.
The prison population has risen by 91% since 1990 and is projected to grow to 100,000 by 2030. With a rising population, opportunities for education, rehabilitation and support are more vital than ever.
However, the number of planned hours of education in public sector prisons in England has been cut by 25%, with staff made redundant, classes cut, and people with specific needs left without support.
We believe that everyone in prison deserves the opportunity to learn.
We offer 100 different professional and academic distance learning courses to help people work towards their future goals.
With classes being cut, demand for our courses is increasing – we have seen an 18% increase in the number of applications so far this year compared to last, as well as a 37% increase in the number of calls to our Advice Line.
Education can be the bridge between someone’s past and their future.
With cuts to prison education provision and an increased demand for PET’s courses, we need your support to ensure that people in prison can continue to study.
Please consider donating to our appeal to help bridge the gap between someone’s past and their future.
