Education in prison enables people to accomplish qualifications, prepare for release and achieve a sense of purpose and self-worth. Prisons are currently suffering from staff shortages and are unable to provide adequate educational opportunities. Nearly half of people come to prison with no qualifications and 42% of adults in prison were permanently excluded from school.
People in prison desperately need opportunities to achieve academic and professional qualifications.
With your support, we can address the gap in education provision. This week, any donations to our Big Give Christmas Challenge will be doubled until we have reached our target. We need your help to raise enough funds to provide 60 distance learning courses to people in prison.
In an environment where each day is a repetition of the last, distance learning breaks this pattern.
I have found a passion for learning that I have been able to share with those around me; changing the future from uncertainty and fear, into something that can be approached with confidence and hope as every course undertaken leaves us better equipped to face tomorrow.
Your support means that more learners like Alex* can find a passion for learning and hope for the future. Distance learning is a vital tool in ensuring that those inside can progress and secure brighter futures while studying and upon release.
Donate here to support brighter futuresIf you donate from midday today, 29 November, until midday on Tuesday 6 December your gift will be doubled, while match funding lasts.
Thank you so much for sharing our passion for education, we couldn’t do our work without all of your wonderful support.
