NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

This course provides a broad understanding of health and safety issues and is essential for anyone with health and safety responsibilities as part of their role or who wants to specialise in the area. The course will help you to manage health and safety confidently across a range of industries and gain a qualification that is highly valued by employers globally.

The course consists of 11 elements across two units:

Unit GNC1: Management of Health and Safety

Unit GNC2: Risk Assessment

Entry Requirements: Level 2 English a Level 2 health and safety qualification

Format of Course Materials: Paper-based

Assignments: One risk assessment based on a workplace scenario, self-assessed activities, a mock exam and a practice case-study risk assessment.

Exams: One non-invigilated, open book exam (completed and submitted within a 24 hour window).

Prison Support Requirements: Facilitate assessment and tutor support via email. This often requires scanning learner assignments and email them to their tutor.

Tutor Support: Yes – accessed with prison staff support.
